Fleet Leasing: Buying or Renting

There was a time when the only option for acquiring work trucks was through a bank. Now there are numerous programs and ways to acquire work trucks. Modern methods are more direct and give the buyer greater power to choose the best trucks for them. Most fleet dealers have a variety of programs that cater to your particular truck needs. At Summit Fleet, we are one of those choices with a helpful and knowledgeable staff. Using rental trucks is sometimes mistakenly dismissed as a poor business choice. However in some cases, renting can be more beneficial than buying.

Time to Maintain

When your needs are small, taking care of your own trucks is rather easy, but if you have expanding needs, it can become a nightmare. When you lease or rent, you can opt for dealer maintenance which allows you to worry about other more important matters. For example, if a truck breaks down, you’ll be able to get a fast replacement. On the other hand, if you only have your own trucks and one breaks down, you’ll be down a truck. Rental trucks allow you the peace of mind of having a capable truck without the worries of it nickel-and-diming you to death with both repair time and money.

Buying Used Trucks

Of course there are always the tried and tested trucks of last year, or last decade, which are still quite capable of heavy duty work. Rental trucks often get retired and come up for sale on lots. This can be a bit of a gamble though, as used vehicle buying always is. You don’t know the specific work history of these trucks. It’s also not likely that every former client will openly and honestly share every single detail of the strains and stresses any particular truck is put through.

Questions to Consider

Are your truck needs seasonal? Are your truck needs subject to growth or shrinking? Do you want the safest and most capable truck options on the market? If you there is anything you aren’t sure of or if you have additional questions, give us a call. Our staff will be more than willing to help you out.
